St. Cecilia Catholic Church Launches 50th Anniversary Celebration, Unveils Jubilee Logo
St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Ho-Dome, today marked a historic milestone as it officially launched its Golden Jubilee Celebration during the Mass of the Eleventh Sunday in Ordinary Time. The approximately six-month-long celebration will culminate on November 29, 2026.
The solemn Mass was celebrated by the Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Anthony Dotsey, and concelebrated by Very Rev. Fr. Evaristus Amegadzi and Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Komla. The homily was delivered by Very Rev. Fr. Amegadzi, who served as the first Parish Priest of St. Cecilia Catholic Church nearly five decades ago.

In his homily, Very Rev. Fr. Amegadzi recounted the humble beginnings of the parish, recalling the faith, dedication, and sacrifices of its founding members. He urged the congregation to remain grateful for God’s faithfulness over the past 50 years and to look forward to the future with hope and renewed commitment.
“Fifty years is a testament to God’s enduring love and the resilience of this community,” Very Rev. Fr. Amegadzi said. “We have grown from a small gathering in a classroom to a vibrant parish, and this anniversary calls us to renew our commitment to Christ and to one another.”

During the launch, the parish also unveiled its official 50th Anniversary Logo. The logo, which features the church’s patron saint, St. Cecilia, alongside the number 50 and the jubilee theme, was unveiled amid applause from the congregation.
The climax of the celebrations on November 29, 2026, will be a Solemn Thanksgiving Mass to be led by Most Rev. Emmanuel Kofi Fianu, SVD, Bishop of Ho Diocese.

Rev. Fr. Anthony Dotsey expressed gratitude to the concelebrants, especially Very Rev. Fr. Evaristus Amegadzi, for accepting the invitation to join the parish community for the launch and for his significant contribution to the growth and development of the parish.
The 50th Anniversary Steering Committee has announced that further details of the jubilee programme will be published in the parish bulletin, on the official parish website, and across the church’s social media platforms.

Parishioners, former members, friends, and well-wishers are warmly invited to participate in the various events and activities leading up to the grand finale on November 29, 2026.
