Third Sunday of Easter – Theme: A Stranger in Jerusalem
READINGS AT MASS
Acts 2:14, 22-33
Psalm 16
1 Pet. 1:17-21
Luke 24:13-35
Dear friends in Christ, N’wokafu YESU KRISTO…
The Gospel proclaimed to us this morning recounts the resurrection encounter of two of Jesus’ disciples on their way to Emmaus. They were returning to their home village after what they believed was a hopeless turn of events in the city.
The Risen Lord drew near and walked with them as they continued their journey. When He asked what they were discussing, they responded with surprise: “Are you the only stranger in Jerusalem who does not know the things that have taken place there in these days?” The irony is striking—the supposed “stranger” was in fact the very subject of their conversation, the heart of the entire story.
Beloved, the Risen Lord is not a stranger in Jerusalem. He is not a stranger to the story, the events of the city, nor to the unfolding of our lives. He is the subject and the center of it all. As Peter proclaimed, Christ has always been at the center of the events of our salvation.
As we continue on our own journey through life, reflecting on the stories and challenges we face, let us remember: the Risen Lord is never a stranger to our struggles. He walks with us, He knows our story, and He remains the living center of our salvation.
PRAYER
Lord Jesus Christ, may I come to know and believe in you as the center of the story of my life. Amen
May God bless you.
