27TH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME: SUNDAY GOSPEL REFLECTION – THEME: GOD’S DUE

Dear friends in Christ, N’wokafu YESU KRISTO…

Why is it so difficult for us to give God His due? God has given us so much. In fact, whatever we are and whatever we have is ultimately because of Him. Yet, when the time comes for us to offer Him the good fruits that should come from His investment in us, things suddenly become complicated and difficult.

We sometimes deliberately refuse to be fruitful for the Lord who has invested so much in us. Instead, we find countless excuses to justify ourselves and avoid giving Him what is rightfully His.

In today’s Gospel, things become complicated between the tenants and the landowner when the time comes for the landowner to receive his share of the harvest. The landowner had invested in the vineyard and, when the harvest came, he asked for nothing unreasonable. He simply asked for his rightful share of the produce. Was that too much to ask?

Beloved, God has also entrusted so much to us. He has given us life, gifts, opportunities, relationships, and countless blessings. Is it too much for Him to expect from us the good fruits that should come from all that He has entrusted to us?

PRAYER
Almighty God and Father, may I never become like the tenants who enjoy the vineyard but refuse to give the owner His due. May my life bear fruits of love, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, and holiness for Your glory. Amen!

May God bless you.
